Disc Herniation Treatment in Turkey

A herniated disc occurs when the spinal disc protrudes out of its place and puts pressure on nearby nerves. This condition may develop by time due to aging, but it can also result from traumas, such as a traffic accident.

The most common symptoms of the herniated disc are the pain that radiates from the lower back to the leg. Other symptoms may include numbness in the leg or foot, difficulty lifting the foot (weakness) and increased pain during movement or bending.

If left untreated, a herniated disc can cause chronic pain. Conservative treatments such as medications, muscle relaxants, heat therapy, physical therapy and injections are usually the first step. However, if these methods fail to relieve the symptoms and daily life becomes difficult, surgical intervention may be necessary.

Endoscopic discectomy is a modern, minimally invasive surgical technique that offers faster recovery and reduced risks compared to traditional surgery. With this method, patients can typically return to their normal work and social activities in a much shorter time.
